Picture Jasper is an opaque stone of the microcrystalline Quartz variety. The extraordinary banding or veining which is created by silicate or petrified mud sets this stone apart from others. 
 
In many cultures some believe that Picture Jasper has a deep connection to the Earth as a nurturing and protective stone that brings comfort by alleviating fear, stress and anxiety.
 
When I looked at this stone I could see a sandstorm sweeping through the night leaving behind a muddy river that winds along beside the void. I combined it with Turitella Agate which is a brown, translucent to semi-transparent, fossiliferous agate found in Wyoming. It contains large fossil snails that stand out in a white-to-tan colour that contrasts with the brownish agate. Some believe that this is a spiritual agate that is also deeply connected to the Earth and home, even one's past. It is a survival stone of strength and protection. The ancient life held within lends the power of wisdom and healing. So all and all - a very powerful stone of immense beauty evicting memories of the power of the Earth. 
 
I created the copper links with silver solder to accent the copper base plate and copper findings. I love how soft and warm copper can be. When worn against the skin it radiates the warmth of your body in its form. 
 
Each piece I create is one of a kind. Why? I really dislike seeing someone else wearing a piece I had grown to love and think of as my own. Not only do I want my work to be original and unique but I like to make a statement with everything I wear including my accessories. In today's world women need to be strong and courageous and I like to think that wearing a one of a kind statement piece shows that we are just that.
