I live on the dry prairies of the North American West and horses are a common sight. Sometimes you can see cowboys sitting tall on their horses, cowboy hats perched on their heads as they round up the cows and do a traditional cattle drive. Rodeos and bucking broncs are a regular weekend occurrence here.
Because horses are such magnificent and regal creatures I decided to put my own spin on them and came up with my 'hippie horses'. Each one in the series is different.
'Virginia Hippie Horse' is made from polymer clay and made to look like Malachite. I created beads to go with it and combined them with copper spacers.
Polymer clay Malachite 'Hippie Horse' pendant with cotton thread tail. Necklace made with polymer clay beads, copper spacers and copper clasp.
Each piece I create is one of a kind. Why? I really dislike seeing someone else wearing a piece I had grown to love and think of as my own. Not only do I want my work to be original and unique but I like to make a statement with everything I wear including my accessories. In today's world women need to be strong and courageous and I like to think that wearing a one of a kind statement piece shows that we are just that.
